STEPS Co was developed in 1998 with the goal to have fun while creating the best quality exercise programs for leaders and participants of all ages and abilities.

SANDRA SHEFFIELD-YOUNG
SANDRA SHEFFIELD-YOUNGCreator and Chief Executive Officer

Sandra is a Registered Kinesiologist and Gerontologist who graduated from McMaster University with an Honours in Bachelor of Physical Education and received first standing in her degree program with a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology. Her professional certifications include; Canadian Certified Kinesiologist, Older Adult Fitness Specialist (OAS) Pro-Trainer, Personal Trainer Specialist (PTS) and Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS). Sandra is a fun, enthusiastic entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in creating exercise programs, training for seniors and motivating fitness goal oriented adults. Sandra is married to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). They have 4 athletic busy sons and their fifth child is STEPS.

TRISH BALARDO
TRISH BALARDOExecutive Director, Seniors Activation Maintenance (SAM) Program
Trish is a Registered Nurse who graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Trish included gerontology courses in her university studies and in her graduating year she was awarded the Pioneer Memorial Prize in Erotological Nursing. Prior to working for the SAM Program, Trish practiced nursing in a variety of areas including community nursing and rehabilitation. Trish started working as a Nurse Coordinator with the SAM Program in 2001. She became Executive Director of the SAM Program in 2009. Trish has over 20 years of nursing experience working with adults including seniors. She recognizes and appreciates the benefits of exercise and active living, especially for seniors and adults with diminished abilities. Trish is married and has 2 sons active in hockey.
