A fitness assessment helps your trainer provide you with the best personal exercise program. It will help you and your trainer establish goals and interests and motivates you both to work towards them. All of the STEPS assessments include a health history and medical screening.

Fitness assessments are a series of measurements that help our STEPS Trainers determine the health status and physical fitness of our clients. Results of our assessments help us design appropriate exercise programs. We use assessments that are appropriate for each age range and ability.

Our Registered Nurses have considerable experience in nutrition and our trainers have a Canadian Nutrition & Wellness certification. We offer nutritional components to a number of our STEPS Programs.

Yes! Studies have shown that regular physical activity can help numerous medical conditions from Arthritis, Alzheimer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Parkinson to Stroke. Exercising consistently can make a difference in the quality of your life.

Strong STEPS is an exercise training program that promotes the improvement of your current fitness level that is specific to your needs. If you are dealing with an on-going medical condition or you are recovering for example from heart surgery, joint replacement or chemotherapy, we design a specific Strong STEPS training program to help you achieve your best wellness possible. We work directly with your specialist, family physician, or therapist following disease management protocols while motivating you to achieve your best results.

Yes! You can, with permission from either your Specialist or family physician, we will modify and guide you accordingly.

Will I get big and bulky if I do weight/resistance training?2015-10-09T10:23:16-04:00

No! This is a myth! Weight training is one of the easiest and quickest ways for women to lose body fat and increase muscle definition.

Would I like Personal Training in the STEPS STUDIO?2015-10-09T10:22:51-04:00

The STEPS STUDIO has a varied collection of safe and fun equipment. It is a bright, welcoming, open concept space.

Am I too old for working out in a gym?2015-10-09T10:22:22-04:00

Our trainers are able to modify programs for all ages and abilities. You are never too old to exercise.

How often are the STEPS Fit classes run?2015-10-09T10:21:53-04:00

We run the STEPS Fit class in 10 week sessions during the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. Please check our Events Calendar for starting times. You may join at any time during the seasons, and your fees will be adjusted for the classes remaining. The STEPS Fit class does not run during July or August.

Why should I take a Falls Prevention workshop?2016-10-12T10:22:27-04:00

Falls Prevention is a necessary educational tool to eliminate the risk of falling for your clients. Falls result in hospitalization, possible fractures and often the client does not return to their previous status. Pain, confusion and poor quality of life is often the result.

Do you offer pre and or post operation personal training sessions for medical conditions?2016-10-12T10:22:29-04:00

Yes! We tailor each exercise program to your needs. We want you to work-out at your own pace. Our Trainers do not push you to an uncomfortable level. We believe strongly in modifying each exercise to be right for you! We are health conscious professionals who have successfully trained participants to cope and recover from a wide variety of medical procedures and conditions.

Can I bring a friend to a STEPS Fit class?2015-10-01T13:24:22-04:00

Yes, we would love to have your friends or family try out our classes. Your friend or family member must sign a visitor waiver before class and pay the drop-in fee.
